This blog provides updates from Derby Women’s Centre and also brings together other news and information of interest to women in the city. We’re always looking for contributers to write about issues affecting women locally, so please get in touch if you’re interested.

Derby Women’s Centre

DWC aims to improve mental health and well-being, encourage self-development and reduce gender inequality by offering the following services to women:

  • Counselling – from female counsellors at a low cost. See the Counselling page on our website for details
  • Support groups - on domestic violence and mental health. See our Activities web page to find out more
  • Courses and workshops  – on arts, crafts, creative writing, improving confidence, managing stress and coping with mental health problems
  • Employment support  - workshops cover writing CVs and cover letters, communication skills, interview advice, health and safety, first aid and more
  • Legal support – every Wednesday free of charge in partnership with Nelson’s Solicitors. For more information see the Legal Support page on our website
  • Coffee mornings – on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month. Come to the coffee morning to find out more about the centre and make friends
  • Complementary therapies –  includes aromatherapy, reflexology, shiatsu, Swedish massage and Indian head massage
  • Pregnancy testing – we perform pregnancy tests at the centre

Our Patrons are local entrepreneurs Kavita Oberoi and Perween Warsi, and comedian Jo Brand.

We are a registered charity and our charity number is 1135743.
